General Information
Acceleration of Suguri Y-Edition
A shmup/fighting game hybrid based off of orange_juice's Suguri series
Acceleration of Suguri is a unique fighting game series with two games to its name! It's fast paced and action packed!A shmup/fighting game hybrid based off of orange_juice's Suguri series
Y-Edition aims to take the original game as a starting point and iron out the issues both games in the series have, while also cranking up the speed! With polished gameplay, better balancing, and easy to use online multiplayer featuring rollback netcode. No more jank from AoSX, and no more time-out meta from AoS2! There's currently 4 unique playable characters, as well as all of the original music, most of the original backgrounds, and both new music and backgrounds!
The game is currently still in development. This is a beta version!
Gameplay
The primary method of movement is dashing, which costs heat in exchange for speed. Both players use their arsenal of weapons and meter they build to try and defeat each other, while trying to maintain a good balance between speed and heat.
Some weapons shoot beam projectiles, which can be safely passed through while dashing!
Some weapons shoot ballistic projectiles, which can't be dashed through, but can be destroyed with beams!
Other weapons don't shoot either beam or ballistic projectiles. This means they can't be dashed through or destroyed, and instead must be dodged.
Most weapons also cost one of two types of ammo to use. Ammo is displayed as two halves of a circle around the player.
Heat comes in when a player takes damage: The higher the player's heat, the more damage they will take! Ballistics are an exception to this rule. (Said rule being: damage is multiplied by heat, except when it is below 100%)
Taking damage, shooting projectiles, and dashing around projectiles will all build up hyper meter (up to 3 charges). One full bar of meter can be spent on hyper attacks! Hyper attacks can be very strong or useful for extending combos. Hyper attacks will also cast a shield around the player, for a duration of time depending on the attack.
Its also possible to spend meter on shields. Normal shields cost half a bar of meter to use, and protect the player for a short time. While in hitstun, its possible to spend an entire bar of meter to instead cast a gold shield, canceling hitstun entirely!
Its also possible to break shields. While a shield still has an inner red circle, using a normal shield while inside your opponent's shield will cause it to break, leaving them vulnerable!
One extra tip, since there isn't an in-game tutorial yet: Hitstun and attack endlag can be ended early by dashing! You can't do this instantly, but you can always exit endlag earlier than otherwise possible by dashing. (You'll see CANCEL text appear if you did it right!)

Available game modes
Suguri
One of the more well rounded characters, Suguri has tools useful for both aggressive and defensive playstyles! Her most potent tool is her sword wave, a large, non-dashable projectile that travels further with Suguri's momentum.

Kyoko
Heavily focused on defense, Kyoko wants to lure her opponents towards her pylons to rack up damage! She has many tools which can help keep aggressors at bay if used correctly. She'll need to use them, since her speed is very low.

Hime
While she mainly has tools useful for defense, Hime's attacks can hit extremely hard! However, she can't do much to clear ballistics, and must usually dodge them. She can be very dangerous to approach!

Sora
Similar to Suguri, but far more aggressive. Sora's sword is quick and can deal extreme damage! She's a bit less versatile at range, but her high speed lets her close the gap.
